US 181 Harbor Bridge Replacement
Corpus Christi, Texas
(Under Construction)
Owner: Texas Department of Transportation
Design / Quality Assurance On-Site
Engineer & Design Office Support: FIGG
This bridge replacement project includes 10,830’ long high-level precast concrete box girder approaches, a 3,295’ long cable-stayed main span unit, and four flyover direct-connect ramps. The new Harbor Bridge carrying US 181 over the Corpus Christi Ship Channel will be the longest cable-stayed span in the U.S. with a record-setting 1,661’ main span and 538’ tall towers. The design keeps the towers and foundations out of the waterway and provides 205’ of vertical clearance over the channel. The bridge has a shared use path and overlook for the local public and visitors.
