Crum Creek Viaduct Replacement

Delaware County, Pennsylvania

Owner: Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority

Design: FIGG

This design-build project replaced the 121-year-old rail viaduct over Crum Creek on the busy Media-Elwyn Regional Line. The Design-Build Team provided innovative approaches to designing and delivering the new bridge on a fast-paced schedule, which only permitted a nine-week rail shut down to allow completion of existing bridge demolition, superstructure and deck erection, rail work, and catenary system installation. The superstructure was accomplished via slide-in accelerated bridge construction. The project was completed on time, on budget, below the engineer’s estimate, and met all owner goals.
